Prototyping:Feedback & Review

Summary

Our classmates mentioned that our artifact was about 3D printed cards with an NFC sticker that your phone scans, which directs you to a Twinery game where you can play as a character. Each character is in a different city and time, where they have each experienced different climate change impacts. In the year 2600 people who live on Mars fly back to Earth for research purposes and stumble upon a digital graveyard of the NFC cards. People understood the physical interaction component as a card that is connected to each character.

The character information can be accessed by scanning your phone over the sticker on the card. One critique is that we should have some sort of background on what has caused climate change. Someone also mentioned that having to download the app as a downside, but it was not too much of a hassle and they enjoyed how each of us had our own individual story and pathway. Another suggestion is for us to incorporate real world disasters into the project to see how the characters would react in that situation. Many people seemed confused as to how to scan the cards, but we will be scanning them through an app using NFC tags. We also got lots of positive feedback on our website. People liked how each character had their own section and how it looked polished. In contrary, it was mentioned that the website margin alignments were off, but that has since been fixed. Lastly, the majority of responses mentioned that our website was visually appealing.

Proposed Changes

  • Clarify what an NFC sticker is and how it works in the context of our game

    • We have a flow chart on our website clarifying the flow of the interaction

    • New flow chart will be made for the NFC function

  • Incorporate real world climate change examples, as well as a description of what caused the climate change

    • With each individual character we are adding details of how present day climate threats can escalade and impact each character’s decisions

  • Someone suggested that we should put the stickers on us so they can scan them when we walk by

    • We disagree with adding that as a component to our project because it doesn’t go along with the story we are trying to create
