Overview

This project is a collaboration between myself, Luis, Justin, Yana, and Alex who all worked on different components. My main role was to assist with the coding and development process for the website which is detailed below. The overall goal was to create a web service that allows users to meet, join, or communicate with bands and band members.

The original concept was created by Justin and we all felt passionate about the idea so we did both a lot of work and had a lot of fun while putting it together. The final version is not yet available as the React framework development continues. Through the rest of the program we do expect to add more content and code to the project for a working, well designed application that can be used on our resumes or portfolios.

Process

To begin this project we first began generating ideas on personas, backlogs, and user-stories to think about features and services the users would likely want. We also thought a lot about which features would be easiest to implement as those would then be the first services we would program into the site. For many of us this was the first time using the React framework so some learning curves were inevitable and despite them I think we did a good job with what progress we have. The overall site uses a component library provided by 'React-mdl' which is a library of React components that carry a styling similar to Material Design Lite. Once the Firebase account was established we merged the Github repository with the 'Alpha' branch which held all the components and content data that had already been made. The end result was a mostly function service that required some tweaking that was applied to link all the routes, database credentials, and components together for a smooth experience. Our next goals include fixing the styling and implementing more content for the other pages along with a more full 'Sign In' and 'Account' page which for now have no data.
